We are excited to share about our fundraiser this Fall with renowned fashion designer Naeem Khan and acclaimed jewelry designer Ranjana Khan.
“We aim to create a safe space where immigrant women can come together and develop confidence, faith and trust in each other and their futures. We envision a world where all women will have the opportunity to achieve financial freedom” says Wishwas Executive Director, Nivedita Chandrappa.
Wishwas will be hosting a one of a kind fundraiser on September 26th 2013 in Manhattan at the fashion studios of Naeem and Ranjana Khan. Naeem Khan is an Indian-born American fashion designer who has styled celebrities such as Beyonce, Penelope Cruz, Eva Longoria, Debra Messing and many others. Another fan of Naeem Khan’s exquisite designs is First Lady Michelle Obama, who stunned in a NK collection at the 2013 Oscars!
Board Chair for Wishwas and noted jewelry designer, Ranjana Khan has a huge celebrity following with her dazzling array of bib necklaces, earrings, bridal jewelry and woven bracelets. Her work has been featured in top fashion magazines such as Allure, Marie Claire and many other publications.
“This cause has touched me deeply because the women in our lives–our mothers, our aunts, our sisters, and daughters–are seldom given the chance to work on skills that boost their confidence and financially empower them strength. Wishwas’ mission helps make this happen” says Mrs. Ranjana Khan.
The fundraiser will be a cocktail reception and will feature a fashion display of Naeem Khan’s Spring 2014 collection and a live performance by AATMA Performing Arts. The evening will also include specialty hors d’oeuvres by Michelin starred Devi Restaurant, desserts by Chocal8Kiss, cocktails, music, a silent auction and much more. The evening will be hosted by former Miss India America, Melanie Kannokada. The fundraiser is expected to have leading social entrepreneurs, executives and tastemakers from the tri-state area. Wishwas aims to raise money for the charity through ticket sales as well as the silent auction that will benefit Wishwas programs and events held throughout the year.
